CT Scans

A CT scan is a type of medical scan that utilizes a series of X-ray images to provide detailed images of the body. The Raleigh Capitol Sinus and Allergy Center is proud to offer our patients the latest technology in low radiation CT scanning for the sinuses. Our in-office scanner provides high resolution images of the sinuses with only one-tenth of the radiation of conventional CT scans.

The scans can be completed in less than one minute. The patient is scanned while seated comfortably in a chair, to minimize discomfort and any chances of claustrophobia. These low-radiation scans have replaced regular sinus X-rays for effective diagnosis of sinusitis. High resolution scans can also be used for image guidance during sinus surgery if necessary.

Because the CT scan is performed in our office, there is no “facility charge,” as would be incurred if the scan were performed at a hospital. Our physicians, who are affiliated with Raleigh Capitol Ear, Nose & Throat, can interpret the scans immediately, send a report, and initiate treatment based upon the results.

At the Raleigh Capitol Sinus and Allergy Center, our experienced surgeons will promptly evaluate your condition with care and compassion. If it is determined that a CT scan is needed for diagnosis of your sinus condition, this can be scheduled at your convenience.
